Growing up amid the vibrant landscapes of Kerala, the rhythm of my childhood was deeply infused with the scent of spices and the quiet power of nature. To me, Ayurveda was never just a textbook medical system; it was a living reality. I vividly remember starting my days with a spoonful of Chyawanprash and some decotions to build my immunity, and watching in fascination as my grandmother managed her cholesterol, blood pressure and everyday ailments using simple, traditional herbs. Even my allopathic paediatrician routinely integrated herbal remedies to treat my childhood illnesses and they always worked beautifully.
Because of these early experiences, I grew up believing Ayurveda was something magical. In my youthful innocence, I thought herbs possessed a mystical power that could instantly cure absolutely anything.
In 2012, after completing my higher secondary education in Trivandrum, I stood at my first major crossroads. I had the option to choose between studying Western allopathic medicine or traditional Ayurvedic medicine. Drawn by the deep-rooted traditions of my homeland and my childhood fascination, I chose the path of ancient wisdom.
My formal training began at the Amrita School of Ayurveda. It was here that my understanding of healing truly matured. My childhood belief that Ayurveda was pure “magic” evolved into a profound respect for its strict philosophical and scientific foundations. I realized that Ayurveda isn’t merely about curing a disease; it is a comprehensive science of life. I also learned to recognize its limitations, concluding that for true patient care, we ultimately need a thoughtful integration of modern science and ancient wisdom.
Amrita was also where destiny crossed my path with my classmate, Dr. Arya Krishna S K. Together, under the guidance of exceptional teachers, we built a rock-solid foundation in both the theoretical and practical realms of Ayurveda. We deeply immersed ourselves in Panchakarma (detoxification), Shalya Tantra (surgery), anatomy, Kayachikitsa (internal medicine), yoga, naturopathy, Sanskrit, and philosophy.
Our perspective shifted entirely in 2016. While still students, Arya and I attended an international seminar at Vaidyagrama focused on the interconnectedness of man and nature. There, we had the life-altering opportunity to meet and learn from legendary, highly experienced Ayurveda doctors like Dr. Robert Svoboda and Dr. Vasant Lad, the great P. R. Krishna Kumar. This exposure pushed us to look beyond rigid theoretical knowledge. We realized that true Ayurveda requires a deep, intuitive understanding of the universal relationship between human beings and the natural world.
Armed with this evolved perspective, we completed our rigorous house-surgency. we completed our rotation in Amrita, which included a crucial rural posting at the Government Ayurveda Hospital in Kanjiramkulam. On the frontlines of community health, I gathered invaluable, hands-on experience in emergency care, acute trauma, and traditional fracture management. Following our house-surgency, our paths temporarily diverged as we sought different types of expertise.
Arya set her sights on higher academic excellence and dove into intense postgraduate entrance coaching. Her dedication paid off spectacularly: she secured Rank 112 nationwide in the All-India Postgraduate Entrance Test for Ayurveda out of over 18,000 candidates, while simultaneously securing Rank 25 within the state of Kerala.
Meanwhile, I stepped into the luxury wellness industry, taking a position at a 5-star resort. However, I quickly realized that the commercial “resort culture” did not align with my authentic vision of therapeutic Ayurveda. I dropped the job after six months, but the stint allowed me to build excellent, lasting connections with international clients.
In 2019, our personal and professional journeys beautifully merged when Arya and I got married. Following our wedding, I joined an Ayurveda hospital run by my uncle, Dr. Jayan Thudanthil Soman. Working under his wing was a masterclass in clinical medicine, where I helped manage a vast, complex range of musculoskeletal and orthopedic cases.
Just as we were hitting our stride, the COVID-19 pandemic swept the globe. I stepped away from my job at my uncle’s hospital, and amid the global uncertainty, Arya and I decided it was time to manifest something different.
On the auspicious day of Vijayadashami in 2021, we officially founded THIRUVITAMKOOR Arya Vaidya Nilayam.
We started very humbly—operating out of a single, small room in our home as a consultation space. From there, we gradually expanded into daily home treatments, specialized postnatal care, online consultations, and cosmetic therapies. All of this was managed while Arya was balancing her rigorous postgraduate studies in the Shalya Tantra department at the prestigious Government Ayurveda College, Thiruvananthapuram. Shalya Tantra is the specialized branch of Ayurveda dealing with surgical, Para-surgical procedures and orthopaedics (such as Kshara Sutra for Ano-rectal diseases and Agni karma for pain management), beautifully bridging ancient techniques with modern surgical principles.
While Arya studied, I handled the daily clinic, treating everything from acute conditions to deeply rooted chronic illnesses. Thiruvitamkoor managed every aspect of the multipurpose practice entirely by ourselves—sourcing premium raw herbs, formulating our own proprietary medicinal combinations, and retailing high-quality wellness products. The immense relief of our patients felt from their daily chronic struggles brought me pure happiness. Soon, our reputation grew, drawing patients not only from different states across India but from several different countries as well.
As a hobby and a lifelong passion, I read classical texts like the Ashtanga Hridaya every single day. Wanting to pursue my own postgraduate path, I attempted the highly competitive PG entrance exam. However, I quickly realized that cracking competitive multiple-choice exams is an entirely different skill set from the practical, real-world art of healing patients. In 2023, I secured a national rank around 1200.
Right at that moment, a massive new crossroads presented itself. I received an invitation from my cousin Lal in Austria to move to Europe and work with the KERALA AYURVEDA SHOP, one of the most renowned and respected Ayurveda centres on the European continent.
Once again, I felt the exact same internal conflict I experienced back in 2012: Do I stay rooted in the familiar medical landscape of home, or venture into the West? I gave myself a period of time to analyse the situation in Europe, engaging with international patients through online consultations to understand their unique needs.
Ultimately, I chose to take the leap. In July 2024, I relocated to Europe to spread authentic Ayurveda on a global stage. With my departure, Arya courageously took over the along with me in management of THIRUVITAMKOOR Arya Vaidya Nilayam on the ground.
Today, we successfully manage our beloved clinic through a seamless blend of offline and online care. We are supported by Arya’s brother—who is also a BAMS doctor who cleared his All-India Entrance Test and secured his medical college admission on his very first attempt without taking any coaching.
From a single room in Kerala to around the world, our journey continues. We remain dedicated to sharing authentic Ayurveda throughout the world—slowly, accurately, and without losing an ounce of its ancient integrity. By beautifully integrating traditional Ayurvedic wisdom with modern medicine and advanced diagnostic technologies, we ensure our global family of patients receives the absolute best of both worlds.
Growing up in Kerala, Dr. Renjith experienced Ayurveda not as a medical subject but as an everyday way of life. Childhood mornings often began with traditional herbal preparations, while simple home remedies formed an essential part of family healthcare. Watching his grandmother naturally manage everyday health concerns inspired a lifelong curiosity about the remarkable healing power of Ayurveda.
These early experiences planted the first seeds of a journey dedicated to preserving authentic Ayurvedic wisdom.
After completing higher secondary education in Thiruvananthapuram in 2012, Dr. Renjith faced an important decision between pursuing modern medicine or Ayurveda. Guided by his childhood experiences and Kerala’s rich healing traditions, he chose Ayurveda.
At the Amrita School of Ayurveda, his understanding evolved beyond traditional beliefs into a deep appreciation of Ayurveda as a complete science of life—one built on philosophy, observation, and clinical practice.
A significant turning point came during an international seminar at Vaidyagrama, where exposure to globally respected Ayurveda masters expanded his understanding of holistic healing. These experiences reinforced that Ayurveda is not simply about treating disease—it is about restoring harmony between human beings and nature.
This philosophy continues to guide every consultation at Thiruvitamkoor Arya Vaidya Nilayam.
Years of practical training and clinical experience allowed Dr. Renjith to work with a wide range of patients, from community healthcare settings to specialized orthopedic and musculoskeletal care. Every experience strengthened his belief that compassionate patient care requires both traditional wisdom and modern clinical understanding.
Dr. Renjith’s journey became even more meaningful after marrying Dr. Arya Krishna S K, an accomplished Ayurvedic physician specializing in Shalya Tantra. Together they envisioned creating an Ayurvedic center where authentic traditions could be preserved while offering personalized healthcare suited to today’s world.
On the auspicious day of Vijayadashami in 2021, THIRUVITAMKOOR Arya Vaidya Nilayam was established with a humble beginning—a single consultation room inside their home.
Driven by dedication rather than scale, the clinic gradually expanded into home treatments, postnatal care, online consultations, wellness therapies, and personalized Ayurvedic care for patients across India.
Today, Dr. Renjith continues to share authentic Ayurveda internationally through his work in Austria while extending consultations worldwide. Together with Dr. Arya and their dedicated team, Thiruvitamkoor Arya Vaidya Nilayam bridges Kerala’s ancient healing wisdom with modern healthcare, serving patients across different countries through both online and offline care.
